Brushes..... What, Where and Why!!!

The Eye Frames

For my brows I normally brush, fill and brush again. I have quite long but thin brow hairs but there are quite a lot of them, so this step is a must if I don't want to look like Eugene Levy i.e. the dad in american pie, trust me its not a good look for a girl!

I use the Eco-Tools eyebrow brush/comb for the brushing and then a combination of the Eco-tools angled brush and the Real Techniques angled brow brush. They are both great, though the real techniques one is a bit to big for the front of my brows so the Eco-tools one is great for filling in the smaller areas.

The Eye Combo

Now I know to some that this may seem a lot just for eyes. But I feel like you can never have too many brushes just like you can never have too many bags or shoes right .......Right????

The real techniques shading brush, Mac 224 and the urban decay brush (came with Naked 1 palette, so not sure if you can buy it separately) are great for getting colour all over the lid. They are also super soft and are great with the eye shadow palettes that I have, so I can't see them not being great with any type of shadow.

The Mac 217 blending brush and the Real Techniques blending brush are great for using in the crease to get a defined look but also for blending out if you've gone for a heavier eye look to avoid harsh lines that may not be wanted. There is also the Mac 219 pencil brush  is great for not only applying eye shadow close to the upper and lower lash line but also if your looking to create a really defined dramatic look with precision.

The final Real techniques brush is great for applying a high light to the inner corner of your eyes, under the brows or really anywhere that you need a small brush to apply details to your look.

Now the two brushes that are left are the brushes that I use for applying gel liner, this being when i have the time and patience to do it. The black brush is the brush that came with the Maybelline Gel liner, which if slightly wet can create a smooth subtle line of the lids. The other is a cheap brush from eBay (sorry) but it is great creating a winged liner do to it being an angled brush you can easily sketch liners to slowly build up the heaviness of the liner.

Though on anther note I am looking at getting another liner brush, so if you have any recommendations then please let me know!!

The Canvas

Now you would be right in thinking that all of these are Real techniques brushes/sponge and you would be right. For me that is because they work really well with the products that i use them with and they are extremely well priced for the quality that the brushes are.

I don't think I could gush about these enough, they wash well and are super soft. I apply the foundation to my face and then blend it in with Miracle Complexion Sponge to get a smooth and even coverage. I then go over it with the Expert Face Brush to get an airbrushed effect with my foundation and then set with powder using the Foundation Brush. The smaller foundation brush I use to apply concealer and then blend that with the sponge again. To contour I use the contouring brush from the core collection as its great at applying colour but also getting a well blended look. Then I normally apply a cream blusher with the Stippling Brush, but it works well with any form of blush as it doesn't apply too much colour and you avoid looking like you've been on a 10 K run!

Finally we have the small lip brush which does what it says on the tin, it applies lipstick smoothly and evenly to the lips and is great for those of us that need a little help in the lip area. I for one am always getting lipstick every where and can sometimes end up like i'm doing an impression of a clown, but this brush helps me avoid that!!

I clean my brushes once a week depending on how often I have used them obviously, but these all clean great and are ready to be used again within  a few hours. I would definitely recommend buying these if you haven't got them in your collection already and are great for those who are just starting up their makeup tool collection!!!

Cult Beauty & Boots Haul!!

So this is a long awaited haul that I finally got around to
blogging. It is a combination of purchases from cult beauty, boots and a little from lush.

I'll Begin with the cult beauty buys, I love this site, it's great for finding what the next big thing in beauty will be the 'cult' item. It's where I go and expect to see most of the items on a hand full of bloggers sites a couple days later.

I look to these blogs to get the honest reviews in whether the items that everyone seems to have are worth the hype. I'm a bit tight when it comes to skin care and beauty products. Tight in that in a way that I refuse to buy them unless I have read about 5 or 6 bloggers reviews on them to understand if they are right for me!

First up is the famous Aesop Parsley Seed Mask, My skin is a combination of oily to normal with the occasional break out when it gets to 'that time of the month'.
This to me seems to be the answer to all of these problems its a light face mask so doesn't feel to heavy when its on the skin, great for getting rid of spots, doesn't dry the skin that's normal or make the oily parts worse.I'm in love and I think it could blossom into a beautiful long term relationship!

Another beauty craze is the Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm.

I'm not sure how I feel about this, don't get me wrong it definitely fixes any problems with dryness that you might have, mine is my elbows. What I personally think is that it is more of a gloss rather than a balm, this is due to the stickiness left after applying. I'll continue to try it out and see how I feel later on.

Luckily as well as this I bought MOA The Green Balm

I bought this as it was cheap, cheerful and 100% natural. Now this is a balm, it fixes dryness and doesn't leave a strange residue like the nipple balm.

Now I bought the Caudalie Beauty Elixir  is a repurchase that I have been meaning to make for a while.

I purchased the L'Wren Scott limited edition bottle due to the fact that the original was actually out of stock and they are the same price, which is a plus as the bottle is really pretty.
I don't use this as a toner but as a 'refresher', its great for long trips on a coach or on a plane, great as a wake up if your off out after a work and also applying it after foundation helps to avoid it becoming 'cakey'.

Finally we have the one beauty buy the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade.

This is great, it fills and sets my brows in one. At this moment in time I'm trying to grow parts of my eyebrows out (stupid teenage years are the cause of this) and this stuff is just great for that. Its quick and easy to apply and personally I feel it looks great. I'm yet to find anything as good.

Now Boots is moving up in my estimation as it's now stocking brands that usually would only be available to those that live in London and as I'm a northerner it's rare that I am in 'Landen Town'.

First is the Vichy Normaderm Hydrating Care its a moisturiser which is great for my combination skin and helps avoid the nasty blemishes that I may get. Now I have been bad when it comes to my hair and damaging it with heat and also colouring it. Mainly the ends were dry and felt like they were getting close to straw. The VO5 Miracle Oil seems to have fixed this problem. I apply this to the ends of my hair during my hair routine and seems to have taken away this dryness and made my hair the smooth, soft hair I once had.

Now another blemish god send is the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum.

I will use this twice a week and now use it after my aesop mask or more depending on if I have a do I a going to or a bad spot. This stuff seems to fix it. I wake with clear refreshed skin. As though I've had a spa weekend with treatments and sleep just in less time and hassle.
The most recent purchase is the cult product that is the Bumble and Bumble Pret a Powder

I have a love hate relationship with dry shampoo and volume powders. They either don't work, give me grey hair, smell weird or if it s a volume powder will work wonders but leaves my hair feeling disgusting and in need of a good wash. Now I've only teste this once but it fixes the greasyness, doesn't leave it feeling like it needs a wash, gives volume and doesn't really have any particular smell. So it's a thumbs up from me at the moment.

Finally this purchase came more from my bestie than a blog hype.

It's a lip scrub that to me fixes dry lips and a sweet treat at the same time. I love applying this before getting ready for a night out. It leaves my lips smooth to apply a lip product but gives me a sugar kick to hype up a night out.

That is it, yes it was long but to me these products are worth the time. Though I am loving the fact that Zoella is on the cover of company magazine, I love her blog and youtube and i think its about time that people like her got into the magazines rather than those who are famous for being famous, but that may just be me!

What do you think, have you used any of these products?
Love to know if you have a recommendation, Talk to you soon
