New Years Eve Outfit !!

Now this year has been a little different for me, I would usually be going away with my family and family friends to a hotel in St Annes (near Blackpool) where we have been going since I was tiny. This year though we aren't going which means I get to spend the evening with one of my best friends, though unfortunately the other will be back at work (and will be missed, sad face!!!). Though I am not totally sure where it is that we are going yet (I'll update as soon as I find out!!*) I have already decided what I shall be wearing. Just a note to say that these pics were taken before new years and I had no makeup on, hense the headless horse man photos, or me not looking at the camera!!!

This play-suit caught my eye on Missguided and I knew I had to have it, I did worry about the fact that it is made out of the scuba material but it isn't as bad as I imagined. I also bought the belt that they style it with on the site as it just look so good on the model (who I will say looked a damn sight better in it than I will!!)

I have then paired this with some super cosy tights from Primark, which are the best thing since sliced bread in my opinion! Yes they may be a bit think, but I get cold so easy and its better that I am warm so that others don't have to put up with my moaning!!

I kept my heels plain black, to help with the long lean leg look that I wanted to go for, now these are from Debenhams from two years ago which were a pain to find but I'm glad I did as they are perfect for looks like this or dressing up casual looks! Though I must admit they aren't the most comfortable heels I have, but beauty is pain !!

Now for the accessories I thought I would keep it to a minimal with the belt being so big, but when I saw this bag in Miss Selfridge I couldn't leave without it. Though annoyingly it has been reduced, though the lilac one is no longer available, so its kinda a good thing I bought it.......right??? I have always wanted a feather bag as I feel they can add a lot to an outfit!!

How about you guys, have you got any special plans for new years, any traditions you have???

I hope you enjoyed this post

Things I'd Tell My Teenage Self

Now though I don't know what will happen in the future, I have learnt so much from the age of 16 that it no longer worries me. There is no exact plan for everyone and the struggles life throws at you just makes you enjoy the good times a lot more. In this there are a few things that I would like to say you my former 16 year old self!
And yes that means awkward teenage pictures you lucky devils!!
-Put down the chocolate bar, step away from the chippy tea: Now I know that I don't always eat as squeaky clean as I should, but I don't eat any where near as badly as I used to at school/college. I used to have breakfast, then toast when I got into school, then a snack at break time, lunch, a snack in the afternoon and then tea and lets just the say the portions at all these feeding times were not small by any means! Though I wasn't that big then, I probably would have felt more comfortable in myself and also would have meant I didn't have to lose as much weight as I do now!

yeah not the most flattering dress choice lucy!!

- Be yourself: Don't give two hoots what everyone else is doing or wants you to be, just be you and people will just have to deal with it. At school I got on with most people, this was from more wanting to fit in and be liked than me being myself though. Now looking back and seeing how fake some people were or horrible they were to people I remain friends with, it makes me wonder would we have actually got on had I not tried to be liked by everyone!!

-Have Fun: Though I found school a stressful time there were moments where I just loved being there. I think looking back I should have done more of the fun things to make me appreciate my time there more.

Yep definitely too cool, and yes braces add to this look!

-Be honest with people: The amount of times I wouldn't understand something we had done in class, yet I would nod my head and play along was unreal. I don't think I understood that the teachers are actually there to help you and want you to succeed (well the bulk of them any way). Tell someone when your confused, don't be scared to ask for help as you'll probably find out your not the only one that feels that way!

- Don't just follow the herd: Though I would never change what I did and learnt at uni, i'm not fully sure I went for the right reasons. I love all the things I have learnt over the 4 years I was there and all the people I have met have made me who I am today, but Thinking over it now I feel I only went to university as everyone else was. I felt that, that was the only option and that I would be missing out if I didn't go, which is totally not true!
I feel this could be in the next vogue, can you tell I hate pictures!!
- Don't let someone tarnish your shine: Friends should be proud of you when your succeeding, maybe a little jealous but not to the point where they are saying something to undermine you. They should let you have your moment as it will push them to succeed as well. Good friends you be motivate each other rather than knocking each other down!

- Actually Think about it, engage the filter: The amount of time that I have said or done something and immediately regret it 3 seconds later. Think things though, if they sound too good to be true it probably means that they are and just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean you'll get away with it, remember who your parents are!!!

- Don't wait for it to happen: If you want something doing, go and do it. Don't procrastinate thinking if its meant to happen it will, it won't unless you've done something to help in that. Only if you've tried your hardest can you say its not meant to happen and it is never better not knowing what might have been. You can have no regrets when you have always tried your best with the things you want and care about!
Oh Dear Oh Dear!!
- Its OK to be selfish sometimes: When I say selfish I mean to a point where it won't harm or upset others, if you really don't want to do something, don't. Being selfish when it comes to your own happiness is fine, in fact most people are like that, think about how much more fulfilling your life will be if you move your energy from things and people your not getting much from to things that make you happy and people who actually care!

Now I look a similar age to my mum and auntie here, my fashion wasn't the best back then!!

I hope you enjoyed this, is there anything you would tell your teenage self??

Christmas Sparkles!! Christmas Makeup Look

I decided as its so close to Christmas, I would do a Christmas makeup look, whether your going out of the the Christmas period or just like to make a bit more of an effort on Christmas day!

For this look I started with the eyes rather than with foundation, this is so that is I have any fall out from the eye shadows or the glitter that I used then I can simply wipe away with a makeup and then go in with foundation. I started by applying a base to the eye, I use Mac Paint Pot in Painterly though you can just go over the eye area with your foundation to even out the skin tone here. The benefit of using a primer is that you have something for the base shadow to 'stick' to and ensures that your makeup lasts. I then go in an fill in my brows with my Anastasia DipBrow Pomade in chocolate as it gives some shape to the face and eyes. I then go round the edges lightly with my Mac Pro Conceal and Correct Palette in Light to define the eyebrow that little bit more.

I then also set the base with a light coloured shadow as this will set the base, but also then means the eye shadow you apply afterwards has something to blend with. I then go in an pat the golden/bronze shadow all over the lid up to the crease, all the shadows I have used in this look are from the Inglot Freedom Palette Shadow collection. I then went in with a small pointed brush to create a cut crease with a matte dark brown which I then blended upwards towards the brows using a Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush, this is so that you get the smokey part of the look away from where the glitter will be.

Then with the same brushes, I went in with a matte black till I got the crease as dark as I wanted. As you can see I went a little too far down the lid, so a little tip is always keep a stock of cotton buds with you as these are your best friends when it comes to making minor makeup mistakes, you just gently wipe what it is you need removing and it should fade it, so it can be easily covered up. Once fixed I then used the colours I had applied to the crease on the lower lash line and then applied a light gold colour to the inner corner of the eye.

After using my fav Maybelline gel liner, it was time for glitter!!! I use a Collection Glam Crystals Gel Eyeliner in Funk and patted this all over the lid avoiding the liner and the crease, so that the cut crease would show up clearly. As it is Christmas I also decided to use some lashes with this look, these are Blink Pro Lashes in Promise , these are super easy to use, just trim to your size and they are ready to go. The glue is good unlike what you get with some lashes and these are subtle, but I feel help finish of the look. The bottom pic is with lashes on the right and not on the left, can you tell the difference or is that just me???

Once the eyes are done I then went in with foundation, this one is the Lasting Finish 25H Foundation with comfort serum in the shade True Ivory, buffing this in with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush. Now I am not so sure about this foundation, but I am giving it a try, I'm not sure how well it actually sits on the skin and whether if I had bough the one without serum in it would be fine. Any of you guys tried this? What did you think?
I then set my foundation with my Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder , using the Real Techniques Buffing Brush again and then contouring with my Sleek Palette in Light  and the Real Techniques Contouring Brush

For the lips I wanted to go with a burgundy/purple shade. I lined the lips with Collection Lip Definer in Damson and then went over that with Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Damned. I then finished off with a little blusher using my Real Techniques Stippling Brush and Calvin Klein blusher in Berry Shimmer.

And that is it, its not a particularly complicated look, but I think its a great one to use throughout the Christmas Period.

Christmas Kisses from Me to You, yes it is ok to be that cheesy at this time of year! Also not sure why I have two pupils as that doesn't show when I load the picture or when opened in Photoshop !!!! weird!!

I hope you guys like this look, let me know what you think in the comments.

Everyday Makeup Look

Now having invested in my two new camera toys I thought I would do what I call my "Everyday Face". Now during the week I normally don't wear any makeup at all, as where I work they would wonder why I am making such an effort (even though its not that much makeup to begin with!) and also as soon as I get to college I have to take the make up off anyway .This is my go to look if I am going out during the day, meeting up with friends etc.

Now after the cleansing and moisturising with Botanics Shine Away Mattifying Gel Cream and the Dr Organics Coconut Eye Cream. I start with the Big Easy Complexion Perfector from benefit and the Buffing Brush from Real Techniques, which is great for the winter months as its a bit thicker than a tinted moisturiser but has a liquid to powder feel, living the skin with a not too mattified look which is great if your like me and have combination oily skin.

Then as my skin hasn't been that great I go in with a little concealer (a little so that it doesn't make my skin worse!) on a fluffy brush from Eco Tools. I use a colour the same as my foundation for on my face so that it blends well with the rest and then a shade lighter under the eyes to brighten them a little (obviously this image is before blending with the crazy bright eyes!)

After a lot of buffing, its then onto the brows. I brush through the brow brush from Eco Tools and then fill them in with an angled brush and Anastasia dip brow pomade in chocolate. I then set my face (avoiding the brows, I would normally do my brows after the powder but had a bit of a brain fart) with Rimmel Stay Matte pressed Powder and the buffing brush used earlier on.

Now for the eyes, as it is an every day look I normally just go for a neutral base and a winged liner. I use the Mac Painterly Paint Pot , patting that all over the eye. I then set this using a light eye shadow, this one being an Inglot Freedom System eyeshadow in 353. Brushing this all over the eyelid with a Deluxe Crease Brush from Real Techniques.

Then for the gel eyeliner, now this little one can be my best friend or my worst enemy depending on what mood its in. This is the Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama  and I use the brush that comes with the gel as its a great size and really easy to get to a fine point.
Ensure you make this look if you get your flicks the same on the first try, as it is something award worthy when it happens.
I then go over the liner with a matte black, this one is an Inglot Freedom System eyeshadow in 391. I do this as it sharpens up the gel eyeliner an also ensures that it stays put and doesn't slide on the eye lid.

Then its just the finishing touches, I curl my lashes otherwise they would be as flat as a pancake (yes the crazy eyes is necessary when doing this). I then use MUA Mega Volume Mascara which is waterproof as I find waterproof mascaras actually hold the curl in the lash. Then a little bit of contour to warm my face up (if you can't tell already I am rather pale!) I do this using the Sleek Contour Kit in light with the Real Techniques Contouring Brush. Then going in with a light blush (the one on the right not the left!!) from my Blush Cosmetics Blusher Palette using the Real Techniques Stippling Brush .

That is it, you can add a lip colour if you like, but when I know i'll be eating or drink the bulk of the day I don't wear a lip colour, this is to avoid spreading the lip colour around my face without realising and looking like a crazy person!

I add a little carmex to my lips to prevent them from drying out.
Either with or without a fringe, thats your choice!

I hope you guys enjoyed this and if there are any looks that you would like to see, leave a comment below and I will add them to my to-do list. Whats your go to every day look?

Quick Update!!

I thought I would do a quick update post with why I have been so quiet and also my new hair!

What do you guys think!?!? (Yes I am that pale!)

Now I have to say that I am amazed at how long my hair has actually got and it hasn't been anywhere near this long since I was around 10 years old. The problem is I can get bored with my hair quite easily, but I am determined to grow it so that I am able to do more with it (i.e a range of hairstyles rather than just straight!). So with this I decided to have a full fringe cut in, now I have done this before and at the time it was possibly the worst ideas I had. Now though, I know that if I don't want to look a total mess I do need to at least wash my fringe and dry it each morning or I will start to hate it as it will look a state.

So far it hasn't been too bad, though I have found that my forehead is oilier than usual, anyone else with a full fringe (bangs) find this??

Also the reason I have been mega quiet is due to how busy it has been at work, I have had pictures ready for blog post just haven't managed to get round to writing them yet, but hopefully as it quiets down now for the Christmas period this should no longer be a problem.

Also I have recently bought a camera remote and also a tripod, which means no more awkward arm pictures. (need to update my profile picture on here asap!). Hopefully this will allow me to do a load more make up looks, which if there are any you would like to see, leave me a comment and I will add that to my post list!

I thought I would just do a quick post to update you guys with whats been happening, let me know if you like this sort of post and I will look at doing more snip-it updates!

Hope you guys had a great weekend.

Lip Loves

With it coming up to the end of 2014, where on earth has this year gone please do tell me?!?! I thought I would do a post on the lip items that I have been loving. They range from bold pinks and reds to subtle barely there nudes.
Though I do have to say that the bulk of them are bold colours, this is because I personally don't really wear lipstick unless its bold as I'm not a massive fan on nudes on myself. If I am going plain its usually my faithful Carmex .

First up with have the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Damned and Red Square. Now Damned is a classed as a rich magenta colour, though it does remind me of a subtle red wine shade. Red square on the other hand is a orange red shade, which means it is a red colour that on those of us with paler skin won't be too draining! They are both super easy to apply and stay put for quite a while, which is what you would expect from most matte shades. Though they are matte the pencils themselves glide really easily over the lips and don't feel drying at all!

Next we have another high end brand which is the MAC Lip Pencil in Cherry which is a bolder red than that of the Nars Red square but has an orange undertone which warms up the colour. Now though this is a lip liner I have on occasion worn this on its own as it creates a great long lasting matte colour on the lips, but because it is a lip pencil you can get quite a defined look.

Though if I do want to top the mac lip pencil with something it is usually the Maybelline Superstay 10hr Tint Gloss in the shade Forever Coral (which I would say its more red than a coral shade) this is a super easy to apply lip gloss, it isn't sticky like normal lip gloss is (I can't stand sticky lip gloss, especially when your hair gets stuck to it! Anyone else??) and is actually quite moisturising. Now the gloss isn't as long lasting as a matte pencil, but that's to be expected with a gloss. Though I find that with the pencil underneath the colour does last longer, the applicator is a soft circular shape something totally different to the normal doe foot applicators you usually get, though this applicator size makes it super easy to top up whilst out and about!

Now if your looking for a cheap and cheerful nude lipstick, look no further than MUA Lipstick Shade 7, this is a great shade for us pale people and doesn't break the bank (£1) like other nude lipsticks might. Its a great shade if your looking for a complete makeup look without the bold lip to finish it off. Its not as long lasting as I would like, but I would be more annoyed had I paid more for the lipstick, with it only being £1 I can't really complain.

Now back to the bolds and this is another lip pencil that I love and it is from Collection, Lip Definer in Damson. Now this is more of a plum/burgundy colour which is great for those winter months with a brown smokey eye! This is another one that is great to apply as an all over colour, whilst also achieving a defined lip. It also has the benefit of being a screw pencil which means no need to sharpen, all of that under £3.00!!

Now one that I really love and feel the need to invest in more colours is the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in Ole Flamingo. It is liquid lipstick, which comes with a doe foot applicator like a gloss, but as the colour is matte it has the staying power of a matte lipstick. It is easy to apply and doesn't dry out the lips. Though it is quite a bold pink shade, I feel that this colour could be pulled off at any time of year (or is that just me??).

Now the last item annoyingly is no longer stocked as far as I can see (having only just found this out whilst writing this post!!). It is the Maxfactor Lipfinity Lasting Lip Tint in shade 06, they do have similar shades in some stores and online. This is great as if your not that skilled at applying a lip colour, this like a felt tip pen, which makes it super easy. the problem with this is that it can be a little drying and is also a pain to remove afterwards (and yes I have cover my lips with foundation before applying it and it still stains my lips).

Do you guys have any lip products that are an essential in your makeup bag??

Hope you enjoyed this post,
