What a Carry On!!

As I am currently in Bucharest Romania visiting S, I decided that I would do a blog post of what I packed in my carry on luggage!

Obviously I paid for a suitcase as it meant I can go shopping like crazy and have somewhere to pack it on my return (watch out sephora!!) . But I though it may be quite interesting to know what I packed in my hand luggage to keep me entertained.

The flight itself is 3 hours and this is the first flight I'll be going on, on my own so 3 hours is a long time to keep myself entertained!

Also not wanting to put any of my expensive items in my larger bag as they could get damaged and on the hopefully unlikely chance my bag goes walkys!

Apologies for the picture quality, I was in a bit of a rush doing this!

Camera : Panasonic Lumix G 5
IPod Touch 3rd Generation
IPhone 5S
Purse (Old one from accessorize)
Compact Vaseline Deodorant
Carmex Lip Balm
Next Perfume
Carex Aloe Vera Hand Gel
Derma Intensive Hand & Nail Cream
Caudalie Beauty Elixir
Passport, flight details and insurance
Book (I can let you know what I think once I have finished)
Blanket

Chargers
Glasses
and Rucksack for it all

I hope you guys enjoy this post and if any of you are going away soon I hoped it help you decide what you need to pack in your hand luggage. Look out for some future posts on bucharest.

A-Z of all things Beauty and Makeup Part 2

So this is the second part of my A-Z of all things beauty and makeup.

N is for No Makeup

Now this may sound like a crazy idea to some of you but some times it is good to wear no makeup. I personally rarely wear makeup during the week. It allows my skin to breath and also doesn't clog my pores, causing unwanted spots. You never know, you may feel the difference. I dare you to try no makeup for a week and see what happens?

O is for Over Doing It

Now I think we have all been guilty of this from time to time including myself but it needs to stop. This truth can really apply to any beauty or makeup related item take tanning for instance, yes you can get a healthy glow from a spray tan but there is a fine line between glow and glowing like tango!!

P is for Practise

Yes the makeup artists on instagram are amazing (I one day will have that level of skill) but the reason they are amongst having a talent for it, is the years of practise that they have put in. You may not be the best and hey even the best have days where their eyeliner just refuses to flick right but don't give up just yet!

Q is for Quality not Quantity

Yes there are many dupes for decent makeup brands out there and I am no way saying buy them rather than the more expensive brands but be careful where you buy them from. There are loads of fake mac products on the internet for half the price of the real ones but these you can't guarantee have gone through all the testing that makes them safe to actually use! That and yes there may be an offer on a supermarkets own makeup but not all of it is as good as it looks!!

T is for Test

I can't tell you the amount of times as a teenager I would go to boots, buy a foundation/lipstick etc and get it home and it is totally the wrong shade for my skin tone. I would always swatch any lipstick, liners, eyeliners etc on the back of my hand. You can see how the colour compares to your skin tone but also what the products is like to use. As for foundations test a small area on your jaw line to see how that compares not only to the skin tone of your face but also your neck and whether you need to go for a slightly darker shade to colour match to your neck and avoid having a pale face!

W is for Wash Your Face!

Even if it is only with a makeup wipe, you really should take off your makeup before you go to bed as it isn't the best treatment for your skin. Though I have done it in the past and been amazed how good my makeup looks till, but it can do some damage to your skin if you do it often!

Y is for You

If you can think of any other A-Zs that you want to see or even know of let me know in the comments and I'll have a look. Would love to know what your beauty and makeup A-Zs are!

I hope you enjoyed this second post and let me know if you have any beauty/makeup truths on the letters that I have missed. (I could not for the life of me think of things for r,s,u,v,x and z!)

My A-Z of all things Beauty & Makeup Part 1

I thought I would put together an A-Z of all things beauty and makeup that are either a must do or a please don't! Think sesame street for us adults that have beauty and makeup problems.
Though I have broke it into two post a as it would be one hell of a long post if i did it as one, so below are my A-M of all things beauty and makeup related truths!!!

A is for ALWAYS CLEAN YOUR BRUSHES.

If you use powder based products they arent too bad, but liquid ones aren't great to keep stored on a brush. The amount of bacteria can build the longer you leave them and if you are using them at the same time your spreading that all over you face. I think I may have scared my cousin when I saw the state of her foundation brush and said that the spots she had were being spread around her face with the rest of the germs she had on her brush!!

B is for Brows.

These little things frame the face and they make a hell of a difference when done properly. Make sure you maintain them properly as there's Cara Delevingne bushy brows and then there's cave man bushy mono brow!! Don't over do it on the product, yes the muas you see on instagram have amazingly defined, perfect brows. But remember they have had years of practise on getting their makeup so on point and you don't want to end up on a night out looking like you've coloured in your eyebrows with a permanent marker!!

Dem Brows be on POINT!!

C is for Contour.

Now I know makeup is all personal preference, a creative way of reflecting yourself but there has to be a fine line of where the creativeness goes too far?! Before Kim K and her crazy contouring, drag queens use this technique and personally I think it should be left too them. They use it to create a more feminine face shape, so as a girl do you really need to contour that harshly!!

I'd say this whole look is a massive no no!!!

D is for Diet

Now I can hold my hands up and say there are days where I don't eat the best but 70-80% of the time I am pretty damn good and my skin seems to show that. If your skin isn't the best, applying a whole load of makeup over the top of it will only make it worse. Diet does have a big effect on your skin, if your not eating to healthy or not getting enough of some things it does reflect on your skin. Take the time to sort out your skin and you'll notice a huge difference when applying your makeup!

E is for Enough

By which I mean know when enough is enough. This apply's to most beauty and makeup items. Know that when your skin is bright red and breaking out, but your eating great and drinking water that you may have overdone it on the new exfoliator you just got! Know that wanting full coverage is perfectly normal, what isn't is your skin looking cakey and that you have applied your makeup with a trowel!!

F is for Foundation.

This means knowing your skin type and knowing which shade is right for you! Now for me I have combination oily skin so the worst type of foundation for me would be one with a moisturiser in it as it would make the areas which are oily even worse. Also as for shade the one I use is a little warmer than my face but that is so that it matches my neck and there fore I don't end up with a pale face that doesn't blend in with the rest of my skin.

G is for Get Rid

By this I mean, clear out your beauty products frequently depending on the dates on them. On pretty much all makeup, bath products, moiturisers etc. there is a little pot on it with either 12M or 24M which relates to how many months the products will last once opened. As products do go off its best to be aware of this to ensure it doesn't have a bad affect on you.

H is for Hair

And make sure you take care of it. Trust me I have learnt from tooo many dye jobs and hair cuts that it is important to look after your hair whilst doing this as it will damage it further down the line. You can see the products I am currently using to correct my past mistakes here.

I is for Ingredients

If you know your skin type it can be goo to know what ingredients that you need to avoid in certain facial products. For example if you have dry skin avoid anything that has alcohol in it i.e cleansing lotions, toners. Just as this may do the opposite of what you want and dry your skin further.

J is for Jewelry

By this I mean, less is always more. I have seeing people out and about that look like they have left the house with every item of jewelry they own. Keep it classic and don't over layer the bracelets and necklaces!

K is for Kardashian

Now don't get me wrong I love the Kardashians (have to say khloe is my fav, though love kendals style!) but know what you can or can't do similar to them i.e. makeup and clothing wise!

L is for Live Life

Don't Give to hoots what people think, including me if you don't agree with some f the above truths that I think then fair play to you that's your opinion. Live your life for you and what makes you happy!

M is for me

If you have any tips or tricks that you want trying out or to let me know post in the comments below and I promise I will try to get to them!

I hope you  enjoyed this post and look forward to the next!

Taming The Mane!!

Now I have over the years changed my hair colour ans style more times than I care to mention, though now I have allowed it to grow and also barely dye it any more as it is back to my original colour.
Though I don't do much to it now the damage has already been done from the previous times and I am determined to fix that. Before all of the styling changes I only had to wash my hair and it would dry poker straight. Now it is more a frizz ball if I allow it to dry naturally so if I have anywhere to go I have to dry and straighten it just to be presentable (which I know is not great for my hair).

I had a mini haul of products that I am hoping will be able to help deal with this mane!! The haul is a mix of Sally's and Space NK products. Which by the way be careful if you have a Sally's near you as it could do some serious damage to your bank account as it definitely is going to to mine!

First up we have the Tigi Bed Head Antidotes Recovery Mask, this is a deep hydrating mask which you run through the mid-ends of your hair and leave in for 3-5 minutes. This stuff smells great and I have to say that so far so good. As it says that you should only use it once a week Ill have to let you know further down the line as to how good it actually is.

We then have the Schwarzkopf Professional Bonacure Repair Rescue Sealed Ends, now I don't have split ends (well as far as I can tell) but my thought process is that this will help keep my hair smoother and whilst its growing it shouldn't grow into split ends meaning when I'll need a hair cut it should only be a trim and not half of my hair.

Finally from Sally's is the Osis Blow and Go Smooth Blow Dry Spray, now this is said to help speed up drying your hair which will be great for me due to how long my hair is it does take a while. Now my hair is thick in fact its very fine but there's just a lot of it which is why it takes so long and I'm thinking less time under the dryer less damage is done to my hair hopefully.

Now the final two products from Space NK, one was a risk buy and the other was from a review from Vivianna  and so therefore it was a must buy!

The BB Straight Blow Dry was a risk buy, though it had some great reviews on Space NK itself, I hadn't actually looked up a review for it outside of the website. It is a heat activated cream that you run through the lengths and ends of your hair, it smooths out the hair and helps it become more manageable with every use! Now I have only used it a couple of times, so I will have to let you know further down the line but so far so good!

Finally we have the Living Proof Hair Primer, now you would think a primer for your hair is just another way to rip you off, but believe me when I say I personally think it is worth the hype! It is a cream product you put in damp hair before any other of your styling products and extends your hair style as well as increasing the amount of time between your next wash. Which though I have only used it a couple times I have to say that it has done that, I washed it Monday evening and then washed it again Friday morning, which I didn't have to it would have lasted till Saturday evening without even showing a sign of greasyness in my hair!! Now this is always good when your wanting to grow your hair out as constantly washing it prevents it from growing and produces more oil, making you wash it even more !!

As I said I will be doing a review once I have been able to use them all a bit more, but so far so good.

Have you guys used any of these, do you have any products you swear by??
Let me know in the comments below as I'm always looking for new hair products to try

Review of Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude.

As you may have seen on my previous post I treated myself to a new foundation. I was a little nervous as I have always relied on my trusty Bourjois 10 Hour Sleep Effect Foundation. Which is light weight but brightens my complexion which is especially great around my eyes. Now the Bourjois one hasn't ever failed me but I though it was about time I tested a new one seeing as I have been using that one for years (obviously having repurchased it, not that I use so little it lasts that long)

The new foundation in question is the Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude in Ivory (which warms my skin up as I'm that pale!).

No I thought I would treat you guys to some before and after pictures, so that I could give my opinion on the foundation but also you could see the difference.

Before (the undead):

After (the less dead):

As you can see from the pictures, the foundation has a mattifying effect, so if you are a gal that likes a dewy finish then this probably isn't for you. Personally it covers up the blemishes I do have, tones down the redness slightly in my skin and smooths out any uneven parts.

The foundation itself is quite lightweight but gives a medium,build-able coverage which is great for if you have the odd blemish but it doesn't feel cakey on the skin (if this at all makes any sense). The shade range could be better, but its not the worst range I've seen. The one problem I have is with the dropper that is given inside the bottle to get out the foundation. They say that you can either drop the foundation onto a finger and apply it to the face or apply it directly to the face using that! Now my skin generally (bar that time us girls get!!!) spot free so it isn't too bad for me, but I have to say that it can't be the most hygienic way to apply a liquid foundation. I suppose it is all personal preference, seeing as that and the price for such a small bottle are the only problems that I have with it, it can't be too bad of a product really.

I would suggest you try it and see for yourself but in my opinion it is a great foundation and a cheaper alternative to some more expensive ones on the market that do the same job!

What do you guys think? Have you tried out this foundation?

Mini Boots Haul

So I had seen quite a few posts on the new foundation by maybelline and felt I needed to get my hands on it to see what all the hype was about!

As an added bonus, Boots had it on discounted price and also a 3 for 2 offer on all maybelline products, well it would have been rude to not take them up on this offer really!

I have only tested the sample that there was in the shop, and what I got from that is that this foundation is a lightweight one which seems to give quite a high coverage. But I'll test it out and let you guys know.

My one concern is how hygienic the dropper included is, if you place the amount you need on your hand its not too bad but applying it with that to your face can't be great!! Also as I am rather pale my shade was the lightest shade they had in Ivory, but I know I'm definitely not the palest person out there, so if you are looking at buying it I have to say the range of shades is limited!

As I recently broke my powder and also in desperate need of a new mascara I thought I would give these guys a try, I do suffer from combination oily skin so this powder will be great on my oilier areas and I'll have to let you know how good the mascara is!!

Have you guys tried any of these products, what did you think? Let me know!!
